Tags are primarily used to help organize your tasks and projects. They are most useful in the Project List and Task List. Tags can be used to describe the type of project, the products or services involved, the geography of the customer, the customer's segment, or other dimensions that are important to you
Before you can use tags, you will first need to add some tags to your account
Add Tags to Your Account
Tags are shared across your entire account. Tags can be used/added to Projects, Tasks, or Goals
Since tags are shared, be sure that your naming convention is easily discernible if it is applied to a Project, a Task, or a Goal
- Navigate to Settings > Tags
- Press + Add Tag to start adding tags to your account
-
In the modal, you can add your tag name and even give it a tag color
Tag colors help organize tasks and projects in your task list and project list visually - Press Create Tag
Editing and Deleting Tags
After you add some tags, you will see some edit and delete buttons on the right hand side of your list
You can change the name and update the tag color here
Don't forget to press 'Update Tag' button when you finish making your changes
Adding Tags to Projects
From the Project List
Navigate to the Project List and filter your list to show the Projects you want to add tags to
You can add Tags to one Project at a time by pressing the + button in the tags column
Using Bulk Actions
You can also use bulk actions to add tags to multiple projects at the same time
- Use the checkbox on the right hand side next to the Projects you want to select
- A Bulk Updates button will appear at the top of the filters panel
-
When you press it, a modal will appear. You will need to select Add Tags in the dropdown
-
You can select as many tags as you want to add, you will notice a checkmark next to your selections
To deselect, just press the tag name again, and the checkmark will be removed
- Press the update button when you finish
- The modal will close. It may take a couple of minutes to update your list if you have made a lot of selections
- You may need to reload the page to see the changes
From Individual Projects
From the Project list, select the project you want
You can also use the search in the top nav bar to find a project quickly
Inside the Project, you will need to navigate to the project info modal.
Do this by either clicking on the name of the project or on the gear icon in the Project header
From the modal, select the tags you want to add from the right hand side
To delete a tag, use the x button on the tag in the new tag area
Adding Tags to Tasks
From the Task List
Navigate to the Task List and filter your list to show the Tasks you want to add tags to
Unlike adding tags to Projects from the Project List, there is no + button in the Tags column to add tags to your Tasks
You will need to individually click on the Task to pop up the task modal.
From there, you can select your tags from the right hand side menu
Tags will appear in the new Tags area.
To remove tags, press the x button to remove each tag
Using Bulk Actions
If you need to quickly add the same tags to multiple tasks at once, it is best to use the Bulk Actions feature on the Task List.
Like from the Project List, you will select all of the tasks you wish to add tags to. A bulk actions button will appear in the same spot as in the Project List.
Click on that button and select Add Tag From the dropdown
When selecting tags from the new dropdown, you can only select 1 tag at a time. If you wish to add multiple tags to tasks, you will need to repeat this process more than once
From Individual Projects
Navigate to the Project where you want to add tags to individual tasks
|
This method can be very tedious if you need to add tags to tens or even hundreds of tasks across multiple projects. It his much better to start off adding tags to tasks inside of a template. |
Click on any task in your project. Just like clicking on tasks from the task list, the modal that appears is the same.
Add new tags from the right hand side
Adding Tags to Goals
There are no bulk actions for this
This is something that is also good to do inside of Templates first if you plan on having the same tag on multiple goals
First, you will need to create a Goal by pressing on the add goal button on the right hand side of your Project
Click on the goal you wish to add tags to. Inside of the modal select your tags from the dropdown on the right hand side
To delete tags from goals, use the x button next to each tag in the new tag area
